The part nobody explains
Past a certain distance a face stops being a face and becomes a smudge. No amount of “4K” on the box moves that line. Knowing where it falls in your room is the whole job.
Not an artist's impression. The picture is resampled to the exact number of pixels each camera puts on a face at that distance, worked out from the published sensor and lens figures. She is not a real customer, and not a real person.
About as far as your doormat. Past that you can tell someone is there. You cannot tell who they are.
Twice the reach, same view. That is a till, a short hall, the front of a queue.
Narrow the view and it reaches the length of the line. One camera on the door usually does it, and it is the one most quotes leave out.
Everything else is deciding which side of that line each camera sits on. I work it out on paper, at your place, before anything is bought.
How I work
Slow, freezing pictures are almost never the cameras. It is the old box everything plugs into, shared with the tills and the guest wifi. Fix that first, or you just get pictures that freeze in higher definition.
The door, the till, the corridor. The wide shots exist to follow someone back to one of those, not to identify them where they stand.
Equipment goes on the bill at cost with the receipts attached. Buy it yourself if you would rather. I make my money on the work, which is what keeps me honest about what you need.
Once it is paid for it is your property. Every password is written down and handed to you at the end, and any other technician can work on it without voiding my warranty.

No photographs
There are no pictures of customers’ premises on this website, and there never will be. Publishing where somebody’s cameras are is the one thing a security company must never do. Every picture on this site was made by me. None of them is anybody’s building.

How it goes
About an hour, no charge. You get a straight answer about what you already have, whether or not you hire me.
Done on weekday mornings so it does not touch your trade. Your old cameras keep recording the whole time, so there is never a night without cover.
Cameras go up but are not finished. With the room full and the lights going, I check what each one truly sees and move whatever needs moving.
Your staff shown how to find a clip and hand it to the police properly. Passwords written down. I come back a few weeks later to check on it.
